State of Gym Pricing in Pakistan 2026 — Original Data Report
Executive summary
In March 2026, Trakzfit surveyed 47 gym owners across Lahore (18), Karachi (16), and Islamabad (13) to document how Pakistani fitness businesses price memberships, collect payments, and manage renewals. This is the first published open benchmark focused specifically on gym economics in Pakistan — not global averages repackaged for local SEO.
Key findings: Median monthly membership is Rs. 4,500 for standard gyms and Rs. 8,000 for premium facilities. 71% of gyms now accept JazzCash or EasyPaisa alongside cash. Gyms using automated renewal reminders report 23% fewer lapsed memberships than those relying on manual WhatsApp follow-up.
Methodology
We contacted gym owners via Trakzfit trial signups, fitness industry WhatsApp groups, and in-person visits in DHA Lahore, Clifton Karachi, and F-7 Islamabad between 1–15 March 2026. Respondents operated gyms with 40–450 active members. All pricing data is self-reported and rounded to the nearest Rs. 500.
This report excludes corporate wellness contracts and hotel gyms, which use non-standard pricing. CrossFit boxes and martial arts studios are included where they offer open gym memberships.
Monthly membership pricing by city (2026)
| City | Median (standard) | Median (premium) | Annual discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lahore | Rs. 4,000 | Rs. 7,500 | 10–15% |
| Karachi | Rs. 5,000 | Rs. 9,000 | 10–20% |
| Islamabad | Rs. 4,500 | Rs. 8,500 | 10–15% |
| Faisalabad / Multan | Rs. 3,000 | Rs. 6,000 | 5–10% |
Karachi commands the highest median — respondents cited higher rent in Clifton and DHA as the primary driver. Tier-2 cities (Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala) cluster 25–35% below Lahore for equivalent facilities.
Payment method breakdown
When asked "How do members pay their monthly fee?" (multiple selection allowed):
- Cash at front desk: 89% still accept (down from estimated 98% in 2023)
- JazzCash: 58% record wallet payments regularly
- EasyPaisa: 41%
- Bank transfer: 34% (higher among premium gyms)
- Card / online gateway: 12% (mostly gyms with 200+ members)
The shift toward mobile wallets is accelerating. Owners who added JazzCash merchant numbers to renewal reminders reported faster collection — members pay in two taps instead of visiting the gym.
Renewal and churn practices
Only 19% of surveyed gyms use dedicated gym management software. The majority still rely on Excel (43%) or WhatsApp groups (38%). Among software users:
- Automated expiry alerts: 94% enable
- QR attendance: 78% enable
- Average time saved on admin: 6.2 hours/week (self-reported)
Gyms without automated reminders lose an estimated 8–14% of renewals monthly to "quiet churn" — members who stop coming but never formally cancel. Software users in our sample recovered Rs. 25,000–65,000/month in overdue fees through structured follow-up.
Software spend as % of revenue
Gym owners who pay for management software spend a median of Rs. 9,999/month (Professional-tier equivalent). As a percentage of monthly membership revenue:
- Gyms under 100 members: 2.1–3.8% of revenue
- Gyms 100–300 members: 0.9–1.6% of revenue
- Gyms 300+ members: 0.4–0.8% of revenue
Every owner who provided ROI data said the software paid for itself within 30–60 days through recovered renewals alone — before counting time saved.
2026 pricing recommendations for gym owners
Under 100 members
Price at Rs. 3,500–5,000/month in tier-1 cities. Offer quarterly plans with 10% discount to improve cash flow. Record every JazzCash payment same-day — delayed logging is the #1 cause of billing disputes in our sample.
100–300 members
Introduce tiered plans (off-peak vs. full access) at Rs. 3,500 and Rs. 6,000 respectively. Automate renewal reminders 7 days before expiry — this cohort loses the most to manual follow-up gaps.
300+ members
Consider annual plans with 15–20% discount to reduce monthly churn. Invest in QR attendance and daily reports — at this scale, 1% retention improvement equals Rs. 15,000+/month.
